The Blogger Recognition Award!

Apologies for the infrequent posting! I got caught up in my schedule and I didn’t have time to write a post. When I finally did find the time, my wifi broke which led to me not posting for two weeks. Luckily, I’m back now!

THE BEGINNING

In the beginning… there was only darkness. Then, I saw a light. Coming towards me faster than anything I’d ever seen before, I reached out and–

Nah, I’m kidding.

A couple years ago, my friend recommended this really awesome series called Keeper of the Lost Cities. Maybe you’ve hear of it? (The fact that I don’t have a review of the first book is appalling.) I decided that I liked the series. I had only read the first book, and I wanted to know if there was a second.  That day, I decided to put my techy skills to use.

I searched the internet. There, I found Shannon Messenger’s old blog. There was a second, and a third. Since I was there, I checked out one of the pages dedicated to the series and its characters. I scrolled through the comment section and got hooked.

I obsessively checked back every day. When I discovered Shannon’s site–the title for Neverseen hadn’t been released yet. I checked back every day, looking for the title of Keeper of the Lost Cities #4. After that was released, I was constantly checking for the cover’s release. Since I was there, I happened to notice that Shannon posted about MMGM. What could that possibly be?

I checked it out, and found so, so many wonderful blogs and equally wonderful people blogging about books that I love. One blog in particular caught my eye. Cindy Reads a Lot. A blog written by a person my age? Getting comments? And writing good, well thought out posts? It was more likely than you think.

So I decided to make my own blog, because if Cindy could do it–I could do it. The rest is history.

ADVICE

  1. Blog about what you love. If your heart isn’t into what you are writing about, it’ll show in your writing. If you are passionate about it, you have more to say and more interesting things to say about it.
  2. Don’t be afraid to expand with your content. Blogging is supposed to be fun, and if you confine yourself to only one type of post–you aren’t going to get yourself anywhere. Try to name one successful Youtuber that only does one type of video. You can’t name any, right? So why would you put yourself in a box?

Have a safe Fourth of July, and happy late Canada Day!

  1. Awww, it’s great to be inspired by others (or ourselves) and led into action of some kind… or into a blog!

Yes, best to never put ourselves into a box or let others. Keep letting what you love play a role in what you do and how you choose to spend your time 🙂 🙂 🙂

  2. Wow, you really caught my attention with that dramatic intro of your “The Beginning” section 😆 And I relate so much to your experience finding & falling in love with Shannon Messenger’s blog! Um, I’ve actually gone through a HUGE chunk of her previous posts just so I could get to know her author journey better… am I the only one who has done that? 😇

I find it appalling that I haven’t done individual book reviews for the KOTLC series yet either… my blog is not complete without those KOTLC book reviews!! If you get around to doing more KOTLC-related posts, I’ll be ready to fangirl over the series with you in the comments 😋 I enjoyed reading your answers for this award!
