This is one of those books that I’ve read the first one, then eagerly await the next one. Counting down the days on my calendar. I absolutely LOVED Truthwitch, and I couldn’t wait to read Windwitch. Needless to say-my expectations were high. First off, the author does a fabulous job sweeping me back into the story. I’m reminded about what happened in the last book, (unfortunately I’d forgotten a lot) and reacquainted with old characters.

The Windwitch world is one of those books where even though there are terrible things happening, you still wish that you could be there because it’s just so cool. Honestly, I just love all of the different characters and the uniqueness of their powers. I love how there are some extremely powerful characters, there are boundaries and limits to their powers and they don’t become overpowered. That’s something that a lot of authors struggle with.

Unfortunately I was also very disappointed in this book. Sadly, it suffers from Insta-Love™ syndrome. It’s not as severe as some…but…bleh. Also, there was very little character development. And even though the book moved fast and a lot happened, I felt like there were too many POVs and not a lot that actually happened.

Plus, I was confused for a lot of scenes, and I felt like the author used extreme violence and gore to cover for furthering the plot. Also, there were WAY too many Come Back From The Dead Characters. Like, WAYYYY too many. Please, just, let your characters die. PLEASE. And I wished that the author had gone into depth with the witchery and power development. After all, it’s called the Witchland series. Right? Like…that’s sorta why I read the book? For awesome powers??? Though I have to admit, the Shadowman was AWESOME. But even his powers were left basically untouched. Even the beautiful cover doesn’t make up for that
